Technologies · Year 3
Master the home row keys to build fast, accurate typing — the essential digital skill for school and life.
Section 1 · Foundations
By the end of this section I can find and use the home row — 'ASDF' and 'JKL;' — with both hands — so I can type words without looking at the keyboard.
Tick each one when you can do it without help.
The home row is the row of keys where your fingers rest when you're not typing. It's your typing home base.
Place your fingers on the home row keys: ASDF for your left hand, and JKL; for your right hand.
Your left index finger goes on 'F', and your right index finger goes on 'J'. Most keyboards have small bumps on these keys to help you find them.

Section 2 · Practise
By the end of this section I can build typing speed and accuracy with regular practice — so I can complete digital work more efficiently.
Tick each one when you can do it without help.
Consistent practice will help build muscle memory and improve accuracy and typing speed over time.
Sit up straight with feet flat on the floor. Keep wrists floating above the keyboard, and elbows relaxed at your sides. Avoid looking at your hands.
Start slow to build accuracy — speed will come naturally over time.
Try typing real words made only from home row letters, like:
